Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
