The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
