The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
