The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
