50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] 3 by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong 4 Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation, 5 By way of excuse or warning. 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 What do you know what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 thus do We deal with the culprits. 18 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 for an appointed time? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 “Move towards the shadow of the smoke having three branches.” 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 it indeed throws up sparks like castles, 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 That is the Day of Judgment. We will bring you together with all the ancient peoples. 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
