Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 separating one from another, 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 excusing or warning, 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 When the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you of a mean fluid, 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 for an appointed term? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 Indeed hell throws up sparks like huge castles. 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
