In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] 3 by (the angels) who make a clear distinction between right and wrong 4 Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation, 5 to excuse some and warn others: 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 And when the heaven is rent asunder, 9 and when the mountains are scattered like dust, 10 And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from a base fluid 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb) 21 till a known term decreed? 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 The living and the dead, 26 Set We not therein soaring mountains? Sated you with sweetest water? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 wherein there is neither shade, nor freeing from the blazing flames 31 Indeed hell throws up sparks like huge castles. 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
