In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those that are sent, one after the other. (The verses of the Holy Qur’an or the angels or the winds). 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 Then by oath of those that lift and carry. 3 separating one from another, 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Indeed what you are promised, will surely befall. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 The mountains reduced to dust and blown away, 10 The Messengers will receive their appointments. 11 For what day is it timed? 12 To the Day of Judgement. 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you of a mean fluid, 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 for an appointed term? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe, on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 proceed towards the three-pronged shadow, 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
