Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 and then giving forth a reminder, 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when the stars are made to lose their light, 8 Heavens will rent asunder. 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 What do you know what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 For a known term? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Did We not make the earth a storehouse? 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 Go to the shadow with three ramifications, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 and as bright as a herd of yellow camels. 33 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 34 This is the day on which they shall not speak, 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
