The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
