The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
