The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
