The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 The night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
