The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
