The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
