The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
