The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
