The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
