The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
