The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
