The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
