The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
