The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they differ? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
