The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
