The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a fitting requital, 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
