The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
