The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
