The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
