The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
