The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
