A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 We shall recount (their deeds) to them with knowledge, for We were never absent (and saw all they did). 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
