The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
