The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
