The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
