The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
