The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
