He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe of God 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
