He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
