He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attended to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
