He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
