He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
