He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you ignore him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
