He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
