He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And is also fearful of God, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 May man be slain - how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
