He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to him thou attendest 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyous 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
