He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives and palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
