He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
