He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
