He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Not this way - this is the advice. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
