He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 lofty and pure, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
