He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
